Since the 2006 terrorist plot to detonate liquid explosives on aircraft bound for the United States; the amount of liquids allowed in carry-on baggage has been restricted to 100ml per passenger. Efforts to ease restrictions on liquids, aerosols, and gels (LAGs) have proven difficult. The European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) has postponed the easing of restrictions on two separate occasions. According to a recently published report by IHS, European airports are expected to ease the restrictions on LAGs starting in 2014, with the eventual lifting of all restrictions by 2016. moreJan. 02, 2014
Avigilon announced it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the video analytics company VideoIQ for cash consideration of USD 32 million. The transaction is expected to close in early January 2014.

The Security Institute announced the winner of The John Aplin Award at its annual Christmas Curry Night on Tuesday December 17th.
The John Aplin Award is presented to the Student of the Year who has achieved the highest marks in the Certificate of Security Management during 2013. The finalists were Neil Littler, Andrew Moore, Lee Trumper, Pete Goode, Keith Denton, Jodie Acty, Kelereng Busang and Gerrard Isherwood. The winner was Lee Trumper who achieved 100% in the Certificate of Security Management Course from the September 2012 intake.
