In Switzerland Swisscom launched an IoT-based control and security system for use in the home. SmartLife activates an alarm in the event of break-ins or a fire and allows electrical equipment and air conditioning systems to be monitored and controlled remotely, and safety sensors to be connected. SmartLife is now available as a kit from CHF 299 or as a subscription model from CHF 9.90 per month.

Customers can choose between two SmartLife package options, namely the Security Starter Kit for CHF 299 which contains the SmartLife Box as well as a door and window contact and remote control and the the Security Surveillance Kit for CHF 499 which contains all of the above as well as a mobile HD camera with motion sensor and an adapter.

There are also two subscriptions to choose from, namely Self Monitored and  Intervention. With the Self Monitored subscription for CHF 9.90 per month, customers can be alerted to break-ins or fires immediately via phone call, e-mail or SMS. With the Intervention subscription for CHF 24.90 per month, Swisscom works together with security service provider Securitas, which will appear on site with security forces in the event of an emergency. In the event that Securitas makes an intervention, an intervention fee of at least CHF 250 is incurred, depending on the time spent at the premises.

SmartLife, developed by Swisscom, can be used by customers of all providers. A SmartLife app enables customers to control and monitor their household on their smartphones (iOS/Android) or via the Internet.
