Pixim announced today the acquisition of Advasense Technologies Ltd., a developer of next generation CMOS image sensor technology located in Ra'anana, Israel. Advasense was founded with the vision of dramatically improving the image quality of cameras used in mobile applications. The company has since deployed several breakthrough innovations in high resolution image sensors requiring ever-smaller pixel sizes.

Pixim announced that Visionhitech Americas introduced new cameras integrating Seawolf, Pixim's latest chip technology. Visionhitech has developed a Seawolf-powered outdoor vandal dome (VD70D88) that is only 3" in diameter as well as a dual-voltage, true day night box camera (VC58D88).
Through Seawolf, Visionhitech's new cameras offer 690 HTVL effective resolution and the industry's proven best wide dynamic range. In addition, Seawolf-based cameras require just 0.1 lux of illumination to produce usable, color images at a full 30 frames per second.

Sony announced that it has formed a business partnership in visual security with US semiconductor manufacturer Intersil for worldwide development of the industry's first network camera capable of simultaneously transmitting both analog SD and digital HD images over a single coaxial cable.
Sony aims to introduce this new category of network camera - the ‘Hybrid Camera' - to the market in the latter half of this fiscal year as part of its lineup of security cameras, which currently include SD-resolution analog cameras and HD-resolution IP network cameras.

Models include box, indoor dome, vandal dome, ATM, and innovative single-gang box-in-wall-plate and name plate cameras. The Seawolf-based domes are designed with a patent-pending, quick-install adaptor for easy mounting on walls and ceilings while the name plate camera allows the end user to capture facial shots from an ordinary-looking desk name plate.
