HID Access Control Products Added to GSA Approved Products List

HID Global announced that the company's pivCLASS readers and authentication systems have achieved compliance with the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) Evaluation Program for certifying that products meet Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) 201 federal identity specifications. The products are the industry's most complete solution to enable FIPS 201 compliance without having to replace existing access control systems, and the first to be certified for validation services both during registration or enrollment and at the door or other access point. more

Smart card readers: HID and Sony form alliance

Sony and HID Global announced the companies to have entered into a Memorandum of Intent for a strategic partnership to jointly develop an embedded contactless smart card reader platform for the global PC marketplace. The jointly developed platform will be designed specifically for laptop manufacturers and will encompass Sony and HID Global contactless solutions and a broad range of other widely deployed technologies while supporting specific regional and application needs. more

HID to Acquire ActivIdentity

HID Global announced that parent company Assa Abloy has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire ActivIdentity. Assa Abloy offers $3.25 per share, or approximately $162 million. This per share price represents a premium of approximately 43% over the closing price of ActivIdentity shares on Friday, October 8, 2010 and a premium of 48% over the 20-day average of closing prices. ActivIdentity will become part of Assa Abloy's HID Global business and ActivIdentity products will provide the foundation for HID Global's logical access offering. more

HID Global and UPM Raflatac, a leading supplier of pressure sensitive labelstock and manufacturer of RFID (radio frequency identification) tags and inlays, announced a worldwide technology license agreement that enables UPM Raflatac to incorporate HID Global's tamperproof and secure RFID sealing label technology and IP into their contactless product family.
