SRI International and the Applied Science Foundation for Homeland Security have signed a strategic alliance partner agreement to foster collaboration relating to the development, testing, and fielding of technology designed to meet the needs of first responders at the federal, state, and local levels. The agreement between the organizations will facilitate the exchange of ideas, technology, and experiences between the Foundation 's resident research partners, government agencies, and the Morrelly Homeland Security Center, all located at the Foundation 's headquarters.

The iRG-4G supports from QPSK to 32APSK modulation and dynamic ACM (Adaptive Coding and Modulation) on the outbound path and 8PSK modulation with FEC of 2/3 and 8/9 on the inbound path. 32APSK modulation combined with dynamic ACM improves the link efficiency by more then 50 per cent compared to DVB-S2 8PSK modulation and CCM. Furthermore the iRG-4G dynamic ACM enable it to have link availability up to 100 per cent regardless of weather conditions.

With the equipping of the frigate "Niedersachsen" in Wilhelmshaven at the beginning of September, the programme to modernise the frigates of the "Brandenburg" (F123) and "Bremen" (F122) classes is now completed.
