John Sayer has been appointed the Manager of Samsung's recently formed Project Support Team. He has worked within the electronic security industry for over twenty years, during which time he has performed product management and pre and post sales support roles whilst with Cardkey, Johnson Controls and Maxxess Systems. John's understanding of IP network based security systems includes the design and implementation of video surveillance, access control, perimeter protection, intruder, fire and BMS systems into fully integrated solutions.

Samsung has introduced the SCV-2081R, a high performance, compact, vandal-resistant dome camera which has built-in IR LEDs enabling it to capture 600 TV lines resolution images at night, without the user incurring the cost of providing supplementary lighting.
Suitable for a wide range of internal and external applications such as offices, retail stores, schools and hospitals, the IP66 rated SCV-2081R will work effectively in more demanding environments that are prone to severe or varying weather conditions as well as tampering or physical attack.

Samsung's Access Control range now includes a lift controller. The SSA-PE1202 can control access for up to 384 floors to allow employees, residents or authorised visitors to use an access control card, a fingerprint or RFID reader to gain access to a specific floor of a building.
Up to 50,000 users can be registered to use up to four reader devices in each lift, whilst non-volatile memory, with 20,000 event buffer capacity, can store user and time schedule information in the event of a power loss.

Samsung Techwin Europe has appointed Lucas Lee as its new Managing Director. He will lead the company on its way to become Europe's leading professional security manufacturer, the ambitious goal announced last year after the internal merger of the two security businesses from Samsung Techwin and Samsung Electronics.

It is almost a tradition that very early in the year Samsung Techwin is inviting its partners to the annual Vision Day conference. This year the conference took place in Antalya, Turkey on February 18th and 19th. The Vision Day conference is always a good opportunity for the company to inform their partners about the latest products and the strategy for the upcoming months. The delegates used the opportunity to be among the first to see and have hands-on demonstrations of many of the new products to be launched this year.

Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd's partners and members of the press who attended the Samsung 2010 Vision Day Conference (18-19th February 2010) heard Managing Director Mr. Jake Kim, state that the company intended to launch 170 new products during 2010, which would include the introduction of new access control, door entry, fire and intruder detection systems alongside new video surveillance product ranges.

Since the spring of 2009 there have been reports surfacing that the management of Samsung Group had been discussing the company's strategy for their professional security businesses. Two subsidiaries were covering the market for video surveillance in Europe with their products at the same time: Samsung Techwin, whose products are supplied and supported by Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd across the territory and Samsung Electronics, whose products are supplied and supported directly from Korea.

In years gone by, purchasers of CCTV systems would perhaps have looked no further than the outline description of a camera to decide
if it was suitable for a specific project. The fact that a particular camera, for example, incorporated a 1/2" or 1/3" chip made by one of the well know manufacturers, might have been sufficient for it to be specified.
