OnSSI announced today at ASIS 2013 that the company's highly acclaimed Ocularis Video Management System is fully integrated with the newly announced AXIS A1001 Network Door Controller from Axis Communications. The integration provides video surveillance and security operations at all levels to be seamlessly combined onto Ocularis' powerful platform. This allows users to monitor and control video surveillance and access control operations side-by-side when Ocularis and the new Axis solution are paired together. ConvergenceTP of North Haven, CT implemented the integration as a partner of both OnSSI and Axis.

In an interview with GIT SECURITY Ray Mauritsson, President and CEO, Axis Communications explained the reasons for Axis' market entry and the new product.

"OnSSI is extremely pleased to support Axis' launch of their new access control solution. Our Ocularis VMS has long supported Axis' comprehensive line of IP cameras and video encoders, and the addition of their new access control solution provides our customers with yet another pathway to achieving fully integrated video surveillance and security functionality on our platform," said Gadi Piran, President and CTO, OnSSI.

The integration of Ocularis and AXIS A1001 allows critical video and access control data to be displayed side-by-side on the Ocularis platform, as opposed to viewing associated video with text overlays. This makes it easier for security personnel to monitor events in real-time, and provides an added level of security by visually matching access cardholders with live images to ascertain identities. This integration offers unique value by offering search engine functionality and statistical analysis of the access control events.

"The AXIS A1001 access control solution is ideally suited for just this type of integration. For the user this means they now have their access control events tightly coupled to their VMS for both real-time monitoring as well as post event analysis and report generation. Having video associated with an event is always better," said Paul Eaton, President and CTO, ConvergenceTP.

All access control events and alerts generated from AXIS A1001 are streamed directly to Ocularis. This includes real-time data of all entry access, guest/visitor privileges and violations such as tailgating. All cardholder information is synchronized, time stamped and stored with associated video by Ocularis for real-time monitoring and forensic searches. Integration of government and local watch lists, as well as restricted suppliers and employees are also enabled to deliver an advanced prevention solution. Detailed report generation is provided for all activities by individual cardholders as well as system wide.

"Axis enters the access control market with the same mindset that helped revolutionize video surveillance: create an IP-based, open platform that empowers integrators and end-customers to build intelligent, integrated and scalable systems with the technologies that work best for their specific needs," said Fredrik Nilsson, general manager, Axis Communications, Inc. "A majority of security end-customers today want tighter integration between access control and video surveillance. AXIS A1001 coupled with OnSSI's Ocularis platform does that and more."
