Member companies of The Open Security & Safety Alliance (OSSA) will showcase the first prototype cameras based on OSSA’s commonly defined Technology Stack and OS at Ifsec 2019.
OSSA was formed in late 2018 to reduce market fragmentation and friction across the physical and cloud-based security markets. Founding members include Bosch Building Technologies, Hanwha Techwin, Milestone Systems, Pelco and Vivotek. These technology leaders recognize the need to align, collaborate and gather others to progress and truly capitalize on the potential of the Internet of Things (IoT).
Security and safety products must connect and interoperate. We cannot flourish in a connected world without connecting. We have to step outside our brands and agree to design leveraging important commonalities to collectively evolve our market. Starting with a level playing field allows companies of varying sizes to contribute and helps us all achieve an appealing and productive experience with security/safety systems, services and devices.
OSSA member companies are creating the first common Technology Stack specification and defining a common and vendor-agnostic operating system (OS) for the security and safety market. Together, these will fuel the development of value-added solutions as organizations focus more on imagining and innovating at the application level. This drive for unity first, differentiation second is what’s attracting forward-looking industry players to OSSA. Commitment to a common platform and an agreed-upon approach will propel the entire market forward.
