Genetec announced today the launch of the SV-PRO, a true hybrid solution on the market that offers unified video surveillance and access control in a single appliance. Powered by Genetec's unified security platform, the Security Center, the SV-PRO can also be deployed in video-only and access control-only installations.

The launch of the SV-PRO expands Genetec's series of SV network security appliances, adding a device ideal for mid-size and standalone hybrid applications to the mix. Genetec has also extended the power of unified security to the SV-16 which is the network security appliance targeted for small sites and distributed installations..

"This recent Powered by Genetec initiative not only supports the ongoing shift towards IP-driven solutions but fulfills the market's increased demand for combined software and hardware solutions," says Francis Lachance, Product Manager at Genetec. "With Security Center pre-loaded on the SV-PRO appliance, customers benefit from a powerful and flexible unified platform with the simplicity of installation and maintenance of an all-in-one solution."

With a variety of deployment options available to customers, the SV-PRO can accommodate up to 100 cameras, or up to 256 readers, or in the case of a unified solution, up to 50 cameras and 128 readers. Security Center's open architecture allows customers to select their preferred hardware from a list of industry-standard cameras and door controllers, or even re-use existing equipment.

More than that, customers can also select their preferred software package to better accommodate their specific requirements. For instance, smaller installations will benefit from Genetec's Standard packages with just the right feature set, while customers with mid-size deployments can take advantage of the more advanced features in Genetec's Pro packages.
The new rack-mountable appliance is robust, reliable and built to the highest specifications. The SV-PRO features a redundant power supply option, dual-port network card and internal hot-swappable storage options up to 12TB, offering significant recording capacity for more demanding video applications.

Like other Genetec SV appliances, software upgrades and updates require minimal effort. Adding additional IP devices to the SV-PRO is as easy as acquiring another license since camera and door licenses are obtained individually. Similarly, simple software upgrades allow customers to immediately benefit from new Security Center releases and transitioning to server-based storage only requires a quick licence change. Ensuring additional investment protection, the SV-PRO is also backed by a 3-year hardware warranty.

Genetec's unification strategy also extends to the complete SV product line, enabling access control and video capabilities on the SV-16. The SV-16 is the perfect fit for small locations requiring unified security with up to eight cameras and eight readers, or up to 16 cameras or 16 readers in single application deployments. The SV-16 is also an ideal choice for multi-site distributed installations when used with Genetec's Federation.

Initially, the SV-PRO will only be available in North America. The SV-PRO and SV-16 will be showcased at ISC West, booth 21061, from March 28-30, 2012, in Las Vegas.
