Smart Building Expo, the exhibition dedicated to home and building automation and technology integration organized by Fiera Milano and Pentastudio, returns to Fiera Milano from 15 to 17 November 2023.

A 'horizontal' proposal dedicated to technologies, solutions and networks designed to enable connected, digital and green buildings and to allow a smart evolution of cities.

As a matter of fact, SBE 2023 will offer the opportunity to experience first-hand the innovation and potential of the hardware and software digital architecture for smart buildings, a market that in Italy is undergoing constant growth with a 44% increase and a value of 6.5 billion Euro in 2021 (source: Smart Building Report 2022 by Politecnico di Milano).

There will be no shortage of solutions for the smart city, of which smart buildings are the primary core, with a focus on energy efficiency, telecommunications infrastructure, new digital services for citizens, sustainable mobility solutions and control rooms and environmental monitoring systems.

Sustainability and decarbonization will be the common thread behind the whole proposal, objectives to which buildings can make a great contribution, as nowadays they are responsible for 40% of energy consumption. 2030 and 2050 are the milestones indicated by the European Community to member countries in order to decarbonize the economy: a fundamental paradigm shift that is already affecting the world of construction and that in Italy will focus not only on new buildings, but especially on existing ones, which, once modernized and connected, can become an active part of a regenerative process for cities.

In order to best present the market, the proposal of Smart Building Expo 2023 will be divided into four main categories: Building devices and solutions, Automation Technologies, Control and Management platforms, Network infrastructure and connectivity.

This edition will feature three special areas:

• Digital Energy, dedicated to energy transition and renewable energies, which are increasingly integrated into buildings, thus turning them from simple consumers to active producers in the context of a city populated by energy communities and zero-emission vehicles.
•  AV playground, the Italian 'plaza' dedicated to the world of professional audio video and integration. An event within the event, which will feature leading companies and an experience-based innovative training proposal, so as to provide professionals with all the technical information to approach a fast-growing market.
• Startup Area: dedicated to the world of start-ups and innovative SMEs, the real beating heart of a sector in rapid technological evolution.

Focus on Smart City: Milano Smart City Conference is back

A chance for updating and training, but also a business opportunity, SBE is getting ready to offer an important schedule of events that will enrich the three days of the exhibition.

The third edition of the Milano Smart City Conference has already been confirmed, and in 2023 will benefit from the collaboration with the Energy and Strategy Group of the Politecnico di Milano, which carried out the Smart Building Report.

Milan, the smartest city in Italy, is considered a benchmark at European level. Once again, it will be the setting of an event aimed at discussing and examining the crucial issues related to the innovation of Italian cities from a smart perspective, with the participation of high-profile speakers and representatives of institutions.

The 2023 edition will introduce a new format: the first session will be held on 14 November 2023 at the Politecnico di Milano, while the second will take place at Fiera Milano on 15 November 2023 and will formally inaugurate the event.

Smart Building Expo confirms the contemporaneity with Sicurezza, the reference event for the security and fire-fighting sector, and with ME-MADE Expo, Italy's leading event for the world of architecture and construction (which will last one more day until November 18). Another news regarding this edition will be the contemporaneity also with GEE, Global Elevator Exhibition, the new event entirely dedicated to horizontal and vertical mobility. Four appointments at the same time to get a full overview on the evolution of the building sector.
