IFSEC and FIREX 2015
IFSEC, Firex and Safety & Health Expo will be back at ExCel in the east of London from June 16 to 18. The three exhibitions under the umbrella of the Protection & Management Series organized by UBM live will attract business professionals across the fields of security, fire and safety. The move from Birmingham to London last year was quite a success and it will be interesting to see how the shows develop this year after the transition year in 2014.
IFSEC Show Areas
As in the past IFSEC International will cover every area of security and the show is structured by the different show areas including Safe Cities, Intelligent Buildings, IT & Cyber Security, Video Surveillance & Intruder Alarms, Integrated Security Solutions, Access Control, Perimeter Protection & Physical Security. Each area has dedicated exhibitors waiting to show the latest solutions and products. Dedicated education session from the leading lights in the industry are planned and there will be several opportunities to network with key industry players.
Safe Cities is a dedicated education and lounge within IFSEC which focuses on the protection of larger urban areas, critical national infrastructure and business continuity and is aimed at senior and strategic personnel responsible for the protection of major assets. Networked technologies and current themes such as the Internet Of Things are leading topic areas and feature heavily in the Safe Cities Seminar Theatre which is exclusively sponsored by Eaton. As well as hearing first-hand in the Conference and Seminars from those at the forefront of Safe Cities globally, visitors can also relax and network with their peers in the Safe Cities VIP Lounge, sponsored by Siemens. The organisers have partnered with Euralarm, the association of European manufacturers, installers and service providers of the electronic Fire Safety and Security industry. Euralarm will be running a dedicated conference on June 17th called Smart Cities: Safer & Secure alongside Safe Cities.
This area will create a combined fire and security area for both events, focusing on the common area of systems integration and convergence.
Unlike other features, it is not a showcase of new products, it’s about holistic solutions. In a nutshell, Intelligent Buildings – Fire & Security opens up opportunities for inter-operability and information sharing between fire, security, IT, data and building management systems.
Video Surveillance & Intruder Alarms
Whichever part of the security supply chain you are part of there are many benefits of attending the Video Surveillance & Intruder Alarm show area at IFSEC International. Covering all aspects of video surveillance and intruder alarms, this dedicated product area will feature the very latest products and services in the industry, including video surveillance, central control rooms, and the innovations with high definition technology. Other products on display include ANPR, IP cameras, remote surveillance, thermal imaging, video analytics, and much more. The intruder alarm part of this section is dedicated to the complete spectrum of products for the alarm industry. Visitors will be able to source a complete product range covering alarm systems, detectors, keypads and control panels to protect your perimeters from outside threats.
Securing assets is a major focus for international businesses and collaborative efforts between security and IT managers are more and more commonplace when it comes to protecting both buildings and the equipment within them. Key to this is access control. Driven by rising concerns over public and private sector safety, the access control market is set to be worth a substantial USD 8.6 billion by 2018. IFSEC will cover the key trends in this security market sector and will inform about the latest techniques that can help organizations to develop a fully integrated access control solution. The Access Control show area should allow visitors to identify and compare a range of integrated access control systems, readers, controllers and software systems.
Due to the heightened threat in today’s world, the importance of protecting property and assets is paramount to all security strategies. The Physical Security area allows visitors to see a range of products in physical security, such as perimeter protection, locking systems, safes and more. With increased security threats from terrorism, the need to protect your business from external threats is never greater.
Follow the Innovation Trail
Innovation is the key theme at this year’s IFSEC and the organisers have launched a new Innovation Arena and the Innovation Trail returns for its second year. The Innovation Trail will allow visitors to navigate all the newest products and services from across the security industry that have launched this year. Gerry Dunphy, event director-IFSEC International states: “Following our move in 2014 to London’s ExCeL we conducted a significant amount of research and one of the key themes that kept coming up is everyone wanted to see genuine innovation on the show floor. We are delighted to incorporate the Innovation Trail once again and we have some really exciting products and technology to showcase this year. With so many new products within the Innovation Trail, IFSEC International really will provide a one-stop shop for our installer community to get their hands on the latest technology.”
All these new products, plus many more, will make up this year’s Innovation Trail at IFSEC International 2015, helping visitors to easily access the new technologies that have come to market. Visitors will also be able to speak to leading suppliers that are shaking up the industry with new services, experts will be on hand to answer any questions and demo all the latest products on their stands.
Fire can have a devastating impact on families or businesses, so minimising the risk of fire and reacting rapidly when fire does break out – to prevent losses and injuries – is a vital part of today’s security universe. This makes FIREX the natural counterpart to IFSEC. Returning to London’s ExCeL for a second year, FIREX will be located in the south hall alongside IFSEC as the organisers recognise the increased convergence between the two industries. Gerry Dunphy, commented: “We are really excited to bring FIREX back to London for another year. We have made some really positive changes in both the layout and content to ensure we are providing the right mixture of innovative fire-safety solutions with the latest thought-leadership and unrivalled networking. Our new location alongside IFSEC will allow our visitors a seamless experience between the two events.”
FIREX will once again have major support from the industry, the Fire Industry Association (FIA), Fire Protection Association (FPA), Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP) and the Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) all return in 2015 as key partners to the show, providing a wealth of information and all the latest industry updates.
Returning after a successful launch in 2014 is Security & Fire Installer Live, where experts will be on hand to present live demos and test the kit to the extreme so visitors can see for themselves the limits products can be pushed to. Also returning to FIREX in 2015 is the FIREX Academy and the IFSEC & FIREX Global Meetings program.
With more than 170 fire solution providers showcasing the latest technology and solutions, 14,000 installers, consultants, distributors, fire safety engineers, building control officers, and end users will be visiting to source the latest technology and dedicated free education covering the topics that matter most.
Passive Fire Protection Demo Zone
BM TRADA will be highlighting the benefits of effective passive fire protection through a range of interactive exhibits, live demonstrations and free seminars at this year’s FIREX. BM TRADA will be offering regular tours of its 80 m² passive fire protection demonstration zone which will feature a full-size corridor and suspended ceiling simulation. The exhibits will demonstrate best practice specification and installation of passive fire protection measures including fire doors, service pipes, cables, light switches and downlighters. The tour will take you around full size display models of a charred fire door and a glazing system, as well as burnt pipes and cables, all of which will clearly demonstrate how passive fire protection measures work to prevent the spread of fire. A reaction to fire display will also highlight the performance of fire protective coatings. To get involved visitors should head to stand C165.
Safety & Health Expo
Co-located to IFSEC and FIREX, the Safety & Health Expo is bringing together the entire health and safety industry buying chain. The event is supported by the key industry partners IOSH, RoSPA and BSIF and is targeting practitioners, suppliers, distributors and manufacturers. For the second year the renowned IOSH conference will run alongside Safety & Health Expo, designed to meet the needs of the UK and international health and safety industry. The show will also be providing show floor educational content over the three days of Safety & Health Expo alongside the very latest, and most innovative, products to market.
