Identive Group will be demonstrating the market's first NFC tag based on NXP Semiconductors' new NTAG203 chip at the NFC World Congress exhibition in France this week (Booth #19). Identive's new Smartag NFC product is available in poster label, pairing tag or tag-in-box form factors and offers an ideal combination of memory size and read range to enable NFC applications through glass windows, display cases and the like.

"Identive's technical expertise in HF designs, coupled with their growing track record in NFC are a winning combination when it comes to the introduction of new NFC tags. With a presence in the reader, tag and software market, they offer an impressive portfolio of NFC solutions. Identive's rapid development of its new range of NFC tags using the NTAG203 chip is allowing us to quickly leverage new market opportunities," said Chris Feige, General Manager Tags & Labels, Identification Business, NXP Semiconductors.

The new Identive tag is generally compatible to NXP's Mifare Ultralight and Mifare Ultralight C tags but boasts a 20% increase in read distance compared with the popular Mifare Ultralight C tag, enabling a more positive user experience with applications such as downloading information or accessing services. Moreover, the tag's 144 bytes of memory makes it perfect for city apps, social networking or mobile phone makers who wish to package their phones with pre-loaded NFC tags featuring a promotional URL address or other content. The tag is also available for design-in applications for clients wishing to utilize Identive's engineering services and expertise.

"Our partnership with NXP is once again yielding superior solutions for the NFC market," said Dave Holmes, Vice President Mobility & NFC Solutions for Identive. "NXP's advanced silicon developments are enabling new NFC apps and approaches that are helping to fuel a fundamental shift in how we use our mobile phones to bridge the physical and digital worlds. Identive is committed to delivering the NFC experience users expect and deserve and to leading the market for NFC infrastructure solutions."
