Manchester businesses were given a valuable insight into ways they can better protect themselves against security threats and assist in countering terrorism and business continuity issues at the annual Manchester Security exhibition and seminar.

The event, held on 24th March, played host to around 200 delegates from the police, local authorities and a range of businesses including banks and retailers. Delegates enjoyed a free exhibition and seminar consisting of four excellent presentations from Inspector Sara Wallwork of Greater Manchester Police (GMP), Sergeant John Ormerod, also from GMP, Steve Harris, of the Bank of England, and Stephen Hollings, from Reliance Security Services.

The presentations covered key areas such as GMP's recent operations to tackle anti-social behaviour and burglary, the Bank of England's work to reduce counterfeit notes and the importance of using security measures to secure organisations and vacant property to ensure businesses are better protected against threats. James Kelly, Chief Executive of the British Security Industry Association (BSIA), comments: "It was a delight to see so many people attend this event and learn more about how they can better protect their businesses. Through an informative seminar and a comprehensive exhibition of the latest security products and services, Manchester businesses were able to learn about the complex security issues that they may face. We have received some excellent feedback from the event and I am extremely pleased that we have been able to provide such valuable information to the local business community."
