High security modular panel systems manufacturer Securiclad has announced a major surge in sales, as a result of increased demand for more robust security measures across a number of sectors.

The company, which is based in North Tyneside, UK, saw sales rise by 58 per cent in 2016 – a year in which it secured major contracts in the data centre, water utilities, nuclear and defence sectors. This is the highest increase in sales the company has ever experienced.

Due to their modular design, Securiclad’s certified panel systems offer a more flexible, sustainable physical security solution than traditional building methods and according to the manufacturer, this has proved increasingly popular with organisations and businesses looking to mitigate against the threats of terrorist activity, theft and vandalism.

Securiclad’s systems are certified to Loss Prevention Standard (LPS) 1175 Security Rating (SR) 4 and are approved for UK Government use by the Centre for the Protection of National Infrastructure (CPNI). They are used to protect high risk areas in the data centre, government, utilities, military, nuclear, healthcare and financial sectors.

Last year, the firm partnered with data centre and server room specialist Infiniti. Oxfordshire-based Infiniti has to date used Securiclad’s panels in a number of data centre projects, including a structure built to protect a Ministry of Defence data centre.

Securiclad also extended its international reach in 2016: for example, panel systems from Securiclad were employed by international security specialist Burton Safes as part of a security solution for Royal England Safe Deposit Box Limited – a Hong Kong-based company that provides high-end safe deposit box facilities to businesses and private individuals in the Far East.

Securiclad can be used in new buildings or retro-fitted to an existing site and is pre-finished, negating the need for hot and wet trade requirements. The modular panel systems have both internal and external applications and can be used to form a standalone ‘room’, kiosk or partition.

Mike McColl, managing director of Securiclad, said: “Government organisations, utilities companies, infrastructure providers and many other businesses are becoming increasingly aware of the need for hardened physical security, a ‘last line of defence’ to prevent unauthorised access by terrorists, thieves and vandals – and are requiring this to be incorporated into the design stages of new projects, or to be easily added in order to reinforce security in existing structures.

“Our modular panel systems have been designed to be used in multiple scenarios where high security is paramount, and the increased demand for our products demonstrates that many organisations now view traditional building measures, such as brick and concrete, as too weak or disruptive for their requirements, and see physical security certification as an important factor in making a purchasing decision.”

Manufactured at the company’s 46,000 sq ft facility in North Tyneside, Securiclad’s systems are delivered across the UK and abroad.

Securiclad can be offered as a turnkey solution, via approved and certified personnel or on a supply-only basis for contractors who prefer to install the system themselves or have their own contractor preference. Securiclad can also be supplied fully assembled as a smaller kiosk, guard hut or small storage space.
