AS&E announced today that Dr. Aaron Couture recently joined the Company as Chief Scientist. In this role, Dr. Couture will lead the Company’s R&D strategy and will help identify and drive strategic opportunities in new and existing markets for the Company’s growing portfolio of unique detection imaging solutions.

“AS&E has been a recognized innovator in detection technology for more than 50 years and Aaron’s knowledge and expertise will help us extend our innovation leadership in the years to come,” said Chuck Dougherty, President and CEO of AS&E. “Aaron will accelerate our strategic portfolio expansion efforts by identifying new technologies that solve our customers’ current detection problems as well as explore greenfield opportunities that create new, viable business opportunities for the Company. Leveraging his broad detection imaging expertise — which includes X-ray as well as other technologies — and entrepreneurial approach, Aaron will help grow our business by championing the development of AS&E technologies and products that extend our reach into new markets and geographies.”

Dr. Couture has more than 14 years of experience developing detection imaging platforms and modalities and holds a dozen patents, with several more pending. He joins AS&E from GE Global Research, where he served as Senior Scientist and Technical Project Lead, responsible for multi-disciplinary teams developing innovative detection solutions for security, industrial, and medical applications using X-ray, computed tomography (CT), and other technologies. Dr. Couture completed post-doctoral studies at Cornell University and has authored numerous scientific publications, primarily in the area of digital X-ray detectors. He earned a Ph.D. in physics from Cornell University and a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
