A TFT-LCD Display Equipped for a Long, Hard Life

Eyevis has introduced numerous features to prevent so-called ‘image sticking' effects which are likely to occur on LCD monitors when static content is displayed over prolonged time. This is reminiscent of the ‘image burn' problem that cathode ray tube monitors suffered from when a static image displayed over long periods of time would literally burn itself onto the inside of the tube and still be visible long after the image had changed or even after the monitor had been turned off.

The new eyevis Eye LCD4200-24NB TFT LCD-based monitors come with a screen diagonal of 42" and provide high image quality, high resolution, narrow bezels and unique operability in 24/7 applications. Thanks to ultra-thin and slim cases and the narrow bezel, the displays are a first choice for modular video wall applications - the gap between the image contents of adjacent screens is only 30 mm. Whether you want to display video signals or computer signals, any kind of data can be displayed on this new monitor. In combination with the eyevis netpix controller and the eyecon software, a medium for information presentation can be created that perfectly fits smaller control rooms in which space is the main criteria.

Roll with the Changes
These displays are also the ideal medium to present a company‘s message. Eyevis provides all the accessories required for wall and ceiling installations as well as customized supports and mobile stands. Special casings are also available to protect against vandalism and adverse operating conditions. This new monitor includes some special features that cope with the ever-changing environment in which they can be expected to operate. The ‘detail expansion' feature optimizes the display of very small details, particularly in dark areas. Even the smallest details that would not be visible on conventional monitors can be displayed, generating an extremely brilliant and high-contrast image. True movie mode is a special high-quality display mode for video signals such as those from DVDs up to HD in 1080i (e.g. Blue-Ray).

Keeping Its Cool
Every electronic device generates heat and TFT displays are no exception. The optimized cooling concept makes use of an open and a closed cooling loop, making it very energy efficient, maintenance-free and economic to run. A special sealing method avoids dust accumulation inside the display. Dynamic contrast control is an innovative technique that continuously corrects the backlight brightness and contrast of the TFT cells, resulting in a natural, very high-contrast image and reduced power consumption. In general, TFT panels are subject to different ageing processes, depending on how they are used from day to day. This can require countermeasures to minimize the early appearance of negative effects such as an uneven picture, image sticking or a boundary line. Special software functions help to counteract the negative effects of continuous display of static images and 24/7 operation.

Non-stick
Dynamic pixel refreshing drives the TFT cells so as to avoid image sticking while considerably increasing display lifetime. Pixel shifting continuously moves the entire image slightly in different directions to prevent image sticking. This is almost invisible at normal viewing distance and the shifting area can be adjusted manually if required by the application. Intelligent noise reduction algorithms suppress the noise typically found in analog signals and optimize image performance.

A soft picture mode applies an intelligent scaling mechanism which smoothes out extreme contrast transitions. This avoids boundary line image sticking occurring at sharp transitions (e.g. from black to white). The degree of softening can be adjusted manually if required. An active temperature control system monitors the internal heat level and controls the ventilation fans according to demand.
