March Networks, a global provider of intelligent IP video solutions, recently introduced new products to its VideoSphere Intelligent Video Management portfolio. The company demonstrates four new, high-performance edge devices that increase the breadth of its outstanding line of IP cameras and encoders/decoders. At the current trade shows it is also showcasing enhancements to its market-leading 4000 C Series hybrid recording platforms, which are currently deployed by top financial, retail and commercial-industrial organizations worldwide.

Designed for a wide variety of customer applications, the new VideoSphere IP edge devices deliver superior video quality and management, as well as H.264 compression for optimum bandwidth and storage efficiency. They include the MegaPX MiniDome HD Camera, available in 720p or 1080p resolutions; the XDome PTZ Camera family with 18x or 36x optical zoom models; the MicroDome PTZ Camera featuring Power over Ethernet; and the compact Edge 1 MicroEncoder, which functions as a universal encoder or decoder and installs easily in camera housings or power supply cabinets.

Similar to March Networks' existing MegaPX HD box cameras, the VideoSphere MegaPX HD MiniDome camera and the Edge 1 MicroEncoder can record video independently to an optional, integrated SDHC card or Network Attached Storage (NAS) device for advanced, cost-effective redundancy. To ensure complete, fail-safe management, the products' innovative Shadow Archiving feature provides seamless access to the redundant video via the client software and enables smart video synchronization with the VideoSphere Video Management System (VMS) archive based on a user-configurable schedule. All MegaPX HD cameras and the MicroEncoder support the ONVIF standard for easy integration with third-party, ONVIF-compliant surveillance systems.

The next generation of March Networks' popular 4000 C Series hybrid NVRs offers enhancements including improved IP camera support and up to 4 TB of internal storage. The recorders retain their innovative docking-station design, which significantly speeds installation and servicing, and are fully compatible with installed docking stations and client software.

The company's VideoSphere VMS software ensures highest interoperability and innovation standards. The introduction of ONVIF-compliance further increases the software's ability to support third-party IP video cameras and encoders, while its unique Shadow Archiving capability distinguishes it in the marketplace. An enhanced web-based configuration utility is also being introduced to further streamline the configuration and management of IP video installations.

"We continue to invest in our VideoSphere solution to provide customers with the capabilities they need to maximize the value of their IP video network," said Fabrizio Colciago, Chief Technology Officer, March Networks. "We are pleased to introduce these new high-performance IP cameras, encoders and recording platforms to our portfolio and look forward to demonstrating their benefits to our customers worldwide."
